Our client is an early-stage startup that aims to provide innovative optics solutions for broad applications. The company is currently targeting life science and diagnostic markets by commercializing our technology initially developed at MGH, Harvard and MIT.. The company aims to release its first products including consumable and life science instruments for single-cell analysis by the end of 2021.

Responsibilities:

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with successful track records to join our company as VP of Engineering. This individual will build and manage the Engineering team and deliver successful manufacturing-ready products. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Build, lead and manage the Engineering team, including outsourced Engineering services
  • Ensure that all technical and support personnel are properly qualified, trained and supervised
  • Interface between R&D, Product Development and Executive teams
  • Manage product definition, prototyping and beta testing
  • Plan company product development efforts and develop budgets to meet schedule and cost objectives
  • Own the life science product roadmap, and develop cost analysis for each product
  • Set up pilot production for first commercial release by Q4 2021
  • Lead the design, development and production of new products and for the improvement of existing products
  • Engage in ongoing customer discovery and business development

Requirements:

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in engineering, physical or biomedical sciences, bio-engineering, or related field
  • Proven executive or managerial track records
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience at life science, biotechnology, or medical device companies
  • Strong understanding of quality control and manufacturing
  • Experience leading at least one product development project resulting in a launched, commercialized product, preferably related to single-cell analysis instruments, such as flow cytometry, microscopy, or sequencing
  • Experience in developing biological reagents and luminescent probes is preferred
  • Keen on developing new technologies and solving difficult problems
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills
